Gabe has a very sensitive soul. If you know Gabe you know this to be true. Well, twice this week, two people he loves dearly have let him down. I get that life is busy and things happen, I get it. BUT a 5 year old doesn't. He was so sweet today. He called his grandma and asked her to have lunch with us. She had an appointment when we were planning on going and so all by his self he asked when she would be done and planned a new time to go. She said she would be there. Well, we got there and she was about 30 minutes late. The whole time he was waiting he kept saying, "Her appointment must be taking longer than she thought. She wouldn't be late if she was done there." For anyone who knows my mom, she is always late. I think it was his way of protecting his sweet little heart from breaking in 2. When she did decide to show up he lit up and his day was made.
It is hard for me to watch my kids get hurt by people who should do all they can to protect and love them. Make them feel special. Maybe kids are the perfect example of one of the quotes I had used in my post yesterday. It was by President Monson, "Charity is having patience with someone who has let us down. It is resisting the impulse to become offended easily. It is accepting weakness and shortcomings. It is accepting people as they truly are. (Thanks Crista) I watch my kids, and other kids. How quickly they forgive and forget. they are very patient with me and all my shortcomings. They a tough and resilient. They love unconditionally. Is it suprising that the Savior thaught us to be like little children? I don't think so. They love, they trust, they love to learn. What a blessing it is to have children in my life that I can learn from and grow from. That teach me that a little wait sometimes is worth it.
